The story is set in the backdrop of a college that is riven by two groups led by Prithvi (Nitin) and Shashank (Shashank). Though there is nothing malicious between the groups, they just can't see eye to eye on anything. The only thing common between the two are their abiding passion for rugby. Whenever a problem crops between the two, it is usually settled with a bitter scrum on the rugby field. As it happens, the college land falls into the hands of a local dadha Bikshu Yadav (Pradeep Rawat). This is good enough reason for the two groups to forge a common identity and fight for the land. Prithvi and Shashank bury the hatchet and get back the land. This is too much of a bitter pill for the dadha to swallow. And so he dares the students for a rugby match with his own group. What happens in the deciding rugby contest is the interesting denouement of the film. Thrown into this story is the love story between Nitin and Genelia.

Aditya lives a middle-classed lifestyle in Aurangabad along with dad - Raghav, mom - Laxmi, and sister, Swati. His dad wants him to be a lawyer, but Aditya wants to be an Engineer. Arguments ensue at home and get complicated when Aditya confesses that he has killed a man named Shekhar who had abducted and was molesting a woman named Lalita. Raghav asks him to leave, Aditya surrenders to the Police, who arrest him after Lalita refuses to recognize him, and he is sentenced to life in prison initially in Aurangabad and then transferred to Vishakhapatnam. He decides to study law, and gets permission to get admitted in R.N.R. College where he finds out that unruly elements, led by Satish, rule the roost and prevent students from studying. He decides to confront Satish, makes him mend his way, while he becomes a hero and gets undivided attention from attractive Anjali. Then things gets complicated when Satish decides to forcibly woo Anjali and even threatens to throw acid on her body, the students find out about Aditya's criminal background, and Raghav himself gets arrested for leaking examination papers and accepting a bribe, is arrested and housed in the same jail as his son.

Raja (NTR) is a petty thief. He sets out to steal a gown on the insistence of a businessman (M S Narayana). Raja brings that gown. When he is about to be paid, the businessman dies of heart attack. So Raja yells at Lord Yama in frustration. Yama (MohanBabu) who wants to find out what the people on earth are thinking about him listens this and gets angry. He asks Chitragupta to bring Raja to Yamalokam though he has many years to live. Raja is killed by the goons and is brought to Yamalokam. How Raja makes Yama's life miserable in the Yamalokam and comes to the earth again forms the rest of the story. There is a love angle to this between Raja and Mahi (Priyamani), a jaminder's daughter.
